Terrible news. Nick has been fantastic since signing. In recent times he's really stepped up at RB. As an ET regular, I always enjoy someone who attacks with intent and puts in the hard yards on our RHS.
In case you read, really hope your recovery goes as well as possible Nick.

JFC - Another headline in Comet , the article again I cannot read, but assume no chance of a return this season ,so assume will be released ? Sure in Jan or Feb club announced he was back in training

We're just looking after him like with did with List. I very much doubt we'll be releasing him at the end of the season.

List was much younger and a much more saleable asset if he returned to the kind of form before he got injured (spoiler alert he hasn't). JFC is the wrong side of 30 with lots of previous long-term injuries.
No problem with the club helping him during injury rehabilitation but not sure they'll want to be paying his salary next season.

We lost £700k last year (granted others in our league all seem to have lost millions). For a club of our size especially, every penny counts for us to be able to compete. Missing yet another year of money away on hoping JFC repays it makes zero sense, unless he agrees to a deal that is favourable for us.
We need to be harsh (and we wouldn't get any loyalty back from our players), so we shouldn't feel we need to be nice to them over stuff like this. It may be harsh on the player, and it is a shame for him, but we need to be shrewd with our money and it is better spend elsewhere to ensure another season of L1 football.
And signings like this are going to happen often for us, as I have said before, we are going to take risks on players with injury history as we have to, hence Edwards as well. Some will not work, like JFC, some will, like hopefully Edwards, and we will get a player who is better than we would ever afford without their injury history.

With List he was still in contract when he got injury and imo has never been same since, not blaming him. With JFC out of contract, sound harsh but would we take a chance ? if possible he could be back in Autumn at most both parties might agree a short term contract to Jan ?

If JFC's out of contract he'll be seeing what's being offered here and elsewhere.
Can't see anyone offering him a long or lucrative deal. A pay as you play deal doesn't cover the mortgage tho'. He'd probably be better off taking a salary hit but at least guaranteeing 12 pay packets.
I'd imagine he'd be offered a shorter less lucrative deal, here or somewhere lower down, with big bonuses if and when he hits X or Y appearances. But doubt he'd take less than a full season.
Minimal risk for us if it's loaded in terms of bonuses rather than basic salary.

Awful injury, poor fella. Here's wishing him well with his recovery. We will really miss him, you like me Clogger, admired his forward play on the right in front of the ET. Great player. Good luck Nick, if you are reading this.
