Retain / Release list
Views: 641
Since the players have clearly gone on holiday, we may as well do the old retain / release list. Who would you keep and who would you let go?
Keep:
Ashby-Hammond
Cooper
Piergianni
Goode
Appéré
Kemp
Louis Thompson
Phillips
Young
Wildin

Agree they must be retained if only for the introduction of ZOMBIE NATION as we come out for the second half, like a NFL match.

I'd add to the list:
Freeman
Smith
JFC (If we're keeping Taye then JFC deserves a post-injury chance too)
Butler
White
Edwards
A lot of the squad are more than good enough, perhaps they want RevsOUT?! As Chuds mentioned in another thread, to hook Roberts off against Peterborough for fucking up, for him to then start again three days later is outrageous. Edwards/Freeman must be knocking on the door for his spot by now.

Will Taye want to stay? He's been stitched up two seasons running now. No criticism of Cooper, who has been excellent

I'd try and get rid of the following
Simpson
White
Freestone
List

Think it's easier to do the players I would actually care if they left.
1. Pidge
2. Thompson
3. Taye
4. Wildin
5. Kemp
Think that's about it. Some of the others are decent enough but wouldn't be fussed either way. Obviously Cooper is only on loan.

Personally wouldn’t keep Taye but that’s on the proviso we get Cooper on a perm deal
White stays for me.
Rest of list speaks for itself.
Guess a lot depends on contracts etc. but we need a 20 goal a season man

Get rid of one of our best ever goalkeepers. The menstruation on this forum is … well quite believable. Almost weekly in fact

I think Louis T goes sadly.
I’d ship off Appere if possible. Clearly injury prone and isn’t good enough to take the risk on.
I’d keep Freeman but I doubt he’s happy in his role.
Agree with the rest.

Freeman is a real mystery to me. Looks much better than what starts ahead of him when he makes cameo appearance, but started every week under Evans and always flattered to deceive.

Think Freeman suffers from the utility player problem of being to versatile. He certainly gets in the starting XI for me.

Freeman has to start over Jordan Roberts for me. He put 10+ crosses on the money, but we obviously don't like to score goals so avoid having players in the box.

Anyone has to start ahead of Roberts for me.
I like Freeman's attitude and he's a utility type player (a James Milner) but you could probably easily pick up the same. So wouldn't mind if he stayed but not overly fussed.

Freeman...the number of beautiful crosses he put in from the goal line last night. As others have said, why doesn't he start? If he isn't fit enough for a full 90 then play him til 70 then sub him. I only noticed him make one minor passing error and he was distraught, on his knees with his head in his hands. Others, not to mention any names, don't seem to care less!

I am a bit biased to be honest because I know him but I’ve also seen what he can do. He was brilliant at Wycombe!
I’d also keep Edwards. He’s literally had one start & a couple of sub appearances. I like the look of him.
What about Forster-Caskey? Is he still a viable option?

Saw more from Edwards in his brief cameo tonight than I have seen from Roberts in months.
So nice to see a player want to run at defenders with the ball and get a shot away. I also like the early look of Hanlan, although he HAS to bury that header first half!

Agree about Edwards, looks promising going forward. Hopefully stays fit enough to start games.
Hanlan not so much so far but early days. Based on what little we've seen so far I'd be surprised if he gets more than a goal every 5 or 6 games.

He shows pace, makes good runs, and is a handful. So offers more than most of our other options up top.
Has one goal already, which should be two. I would be starting both him and Edwards the rest of the way if both fit to see what they offer with a consistent run.

Over Reid/Young/List... yep, no brainer.

Are they not too similar? I'd like to see either one playing with Reid or List if we dare to pick 2 strikers. Unpopular opinion but I think we've ended up with too many strikers of the same profile after letting Simpson and Pressley go

Possibly, although I feel Hanlan could feed off Appere quite well.

that is the main problem with the team this season, we play 3 upfront, with two out wide,
why cant we have two strikers who play closely together / feed off each other

Will have to see how he gets on when he comes back, but I put him in the same category as Aperre where he isn’t worth keeping around to sit on the treatment table for most of the season.
