Match thread and ticket cock up

Some fans reporting their tickets purchased from Stevenage are not available for collection. Had to buy a new one

I hd a bit of a ticket issue in that I bought one in plenty of time & it was posted to me but never arrived. Thankfully my ticket was there for collection at the ground although they had the wrong name! I told them 3 bloody times on the phone!!!
So glad I bothered going today - my first away trip since Reading last season. Both games were incredibly poor. No invention whatsoever.
Canāt remember seeing 4 substitutions at once before. I thought Edwards looked useful & Hanlan may be ok but he got no service whatsoever. Terrible 2nd half with no shots at all.

Re Edwards from what I have seen of him in past needs to be outright LW or alike.Think we need to leave Roberts on bench and try him.

Roberts RW, Edwards LW.
King and Kemp CM/CAM
2 central strikers
4-4-2
But we won't well play 4-3-3 most of the time.

Edwards kept getting down the outside of their right back and then constantly coming back inside rather than crossing it from behind their defence, was so frustrating. Play him right wing and get behind their defenders

Much prefer to have a player in there natural position eg Smith playing LB, in fact he did ok but wasted.

Agree this formation could work especially if we have to continue with Freeman and Freestone as FBs .Downside is we have to ditch Phillips but you have to make choices

Yeah that was the worst Iāve seen since Exeter away.
Revs loyalty to Reid is getting a bit weird.

They should get lines for their lesson:-
When I shoot it must be on target
When I shoot it must be on target
When I shoot it must be on target
When I shoot it must be on target
Repeat another 96 times!

and leaving someone up the pitch when defending corners. So stupid keeping everyone back, it's just another chance for them.

Charlton commentators have been relatively unbiased but 5 minutes into the second half said we looked totally different.

A run and jump. Not massively. Then he held his hand up in an apologetic fashion to the away end.
Then pointed to the Sky to what I assume his late mother.
One of football's good eggs.

Frustrating for all of us especially Revs. This team has shown its colours, well and truly hanging them from the mast. They can be outstanding. So how can we go from a glittering performance, say, against Wrexham to an unbelievabley bad one against Charlton? It's beyond belief.
Can anyone explain that one to me (and Revs)?

I wonder if the pre-match routine didnāt help. Must have been an early start for the players to get to the ground for the coach and getting the right nutrition etc. pre-match. Not exactly normal preparation. Sky may be putting a lot of money in but these 12.30 kick-offs aināt good.

I wonder, that early ko would definitely affect their preperation and routine.
Boro signed up to Sky so we only have ourselves to blame.

We do need to remind ourselves of this fact...we are a 3rd Division team not a star studded Prem team with Ā£m players who can be consistant.
Apart from Birmingham, the same can be said of most teams in our league. None of them are very consistant.
Yep, the fact we are in League1 has to be remembered....but...what an achievement it is for little Stevenage to even be in this league after all.

Yep, the sort of person we havenāt got any more. A useless second half from us so god knows what Revs said to them at half time. And although he wasnāt exactly getting great service, Hanlan looks like a wasteful lump, a direct replacement for Simpsonā¦ who actually might have proven himself to be better?! New winger seems to have something about him so letās hope they both settle in quickly and make some difference. Winnable game Tuesday so please Boro, get a couple of shots away eh?

Re: Losing 1-0

Something of a reality check I reckon. We now have a run of games that we should/must win if we really are to have a chance of gatecrashing the play offs, but I suspect that won't happen. Hanlan has had very little football recently, so please hold the judgment until he has had a chance to prove he is useless. Simpson grasped his with both hands.

Re: Losing 1-0
Views: 417
Yes indeed, good point well made, and of course I was mainly being tongue-in-cheek about Hanlan - we canāt possibly know yet. Itās just that often new players burst into the team, eager to prove themselves, and others just amble in looking like thereās no hurry to be involved. My early assessment was that he looked to be the latter, but of course we must give him time to prove himself (*to be useless?).

Simpson made an immediate impact for Colchester yesterday. Came on as a 96th minute sub and still managed a booking before the final whistle.
