Sweeney was instrumental in our goal and Appere showed everything that Jamie Reid hasn't shown in months.
Edit: I don't disagree about the performance overall, though. That really pissed me off today. We toiled away with zero tempo or intensity, or attacking intent, at home to a side who played shit, when we hadn't played for a fortnight. Revs has to realise if he doesn't improve the offering he will be out of a job.

The "wrong" sub I would point to is taking off Phillips for Freeman (which is a debatable change in and of itself - quite defensive when before that they were on the ropes) and putting LT in a more defensive role when LT was already on a yellow. Even at the time it raised eyebrows around our section of the East.

Maybe its just me but i was happy with the quality of the first half, albeit i thought the lack of a lead might come back to haunt us. I suspected Wigan wouldn't be as bad second half.
Cracking free kick from Kane, who looked more than competwnt afain at LB, and Reid almost nicked the back pass to score.
Second half we ran out of ideas, we looked flat apart from the goal which was a great build up and finish.
Sweeney's ability to bring the ball out of defence will be crucial to us building play. Shame Revs wont play a back 3/5
We should be building a team around Kemp. Head and shoulders above the rest, our best player, again.
Reid should be on the bench.
Sweeney should pay Louis' fine, failed to make rhe tavkle/commit the foul and pick up a yellow 10 yards further away from our goal, left Louis with no option.

First half wasn’t great but I’ve also seen plenty worse.
Agree with your points about Kemp (our best player), Reid not starting and id also like to see a back 3 - I did wonder if we’d make that change during the game. .
I’d love us to give Apeare or Young a chance through through the centre.
Revs isn’t going to get sacked. We will still finish comfortably mid table. Performances need to improve though.

He took List off over Reid - who again did absolutely nothing - and Phillips who was the one midfielder making himself available for the ball. That's ignoring Sweeney getting done in the build up for the second. What does Young - or anyone - have to do to get a chance over Reid.
They also spent 15 minutes - again - deciding what to do which suggests there's no plan B in place. It's infuriating to watch

Okay, gotcha. In that case I agree that Reid absolutely should not be starting matches, let alone playing 90 minutes.
He isn't even moving or offering anything, let alone being a threat. Young should have been playing in the middle instead of him the past few weeks, and Appere should the second he is fully fit (I was very excited when we signed him and believe we would have offered so much more up top this season had he been fit).

The players aren't the problem; the manager is. We are so predictable, so easy to defend against and so dull to watch.
Four of the next five are away from home, the next two at Barnsley and Wrexham. Since we've managed just one goal in open play away from home in the League this season, it's 'welcome to the relegation battle, Rev'.
Great free kick that won it. We have a player who can do that, but he's not deemed good enough to start and since his brilliant strike at Mansfield, he's no longer allowed to take free kicks when he does get on. So bloody frustrating.

You know I am only joshing ya, and one game doesn't make things right, but as I was saying originally, with out defence we will always pick up points to maintain any gap we have, and with us so solid at the back we will often only need one goal to win. And crucially the performances have clearly been picking up and we have started creating chances again.
Follow it up at home to Exeter and we can then give Brum an almighty go.

Not a clue, but we won't be in a relegation battle and I won't be at most of them so I don't much care either.
I would much rather beat Orient midweek than beat Barnsley at the weekend.
Edit: And whilst we may not have won lots away, it isn't like we lose them all. Three unbeaten away in the league, one loss in our last five (W1 D3 L1), only four away defeats all season. So there is every reason to believe we will continue picking up points away from home, as we have been doing.

A betting man like you would likely predict a draw or two at best from those four matches.
Which coupled with our return from the last three doesnt look too healthy.

Barnsley just lost to Bristol Rovers, who are awful. Charlton and Exeter are nothing remotely special.
We are ten points clear of the drop zone, with nine sides below us. We are where most of is hoped wr would be, and won't be far off this come the end of the season.
People were predicting we would go down in the summer, and in October, and in December, this is nothing new.

Correct. We are where I thought we would be, and I don't believe he ought to be sacked based on results or league standings.
But the board will also be looking at other factors and with an eye on the budget for next season, where Revs isn't going to be helping himself.
Discussed on the walk back to the car at FT today and I said today was the first time I have been properly pissed off with him this season. It just wasn't the level it should have been. That one today really annoyed me more than any other for some reason. And I also said I don't think we can say any player has improved under Revs, Banfield or Cuthbert, and don't imagine ever will. I believe I used the wording that I don't believe Revs is holding us back, but at the same time also isn't getting the most out of the squad. So it all comes down to expectations. Not done anywhere near enough wrong to be sacked, but needs to show a lot more second half of the season, and I have no relegation fears for this season, but may do for next season (as much because a lot of the shit will be going down this year, as about anything we may or may not do). Not actually sure how long his contract is, I assume two years.

You don't drop multiple levels to a tiny club that pays relative peanuts, but is conveniently close to home, unless you've either lost a lot of the passion or a lot of the ability.

Coaching is a bit different from playing.
To coach at Arsenal you need to be in the top 1% of coaches. To coach at Stevenage, you dont.
He either isnt good enough to work higher or doesnt want to anymore.

Because the top level of the game is very different now, and he either is viewed as not being at that level anymore (which isn't relevant to us), doesn't fit in with training teams like those of Arteta (which isn'trelevant to us), or doesn't want to coach at that level anymore (which isn't necessarily relevant to us).
Doesn't mean he is a bad coach at our level, and absolutely doesn't mean he has lost passion for the game, he simply wouldn't bother if that were the case.
We posted a training ground video a week or two back, which was about six minutes long, and he seemed very involved and interested.
Not to say he will, or is, improving us, but him being here alone doesn't mean he is shit or doesn't care.

My problem with Revs is the lack of commitment to attack . We’ve got a very good defence that , apart from Luther , SE put together. Plus the keeper has been added . It’s not a defence that makes lots of mistakes, so be more attacking - it’s not unlucky that we are one of the lowest scorers in the league- it’s because we make the least chances .
I do like him as a bloke , but we will have half a game when we play well ( may not even score ) and he says in his interview things like ‘ that’s what we are trying to do here ‘ like we are Barcelona . Whatever we are trying to do - can we please find a way of having more goal efforts , because you need to score goals to win games apparently.

Maybe the reason our record in defence is so good is because we focus too many of our 11 primarily on their defensive duties?
Which means everyone is playing safety first.
Which means our forward players get fed up moving into space or making runs. And now.mostly stand in a line.
Because most of the time the safe ball is being played?

It is a problem for all of us. Only Tranmere in the entire EFL have scored (one) fewer goals. It isn't the fault of the strikers – if you don't make chances you can't convert them – it is all about 'playing a certain way' and it's bloody boring. Revs isn't thick, so I can't understand why he can't, or refuses to, see it. Instead he puts square pegs in round holes rather than playing to the strengths of the players we have. Reid continues to get stick which in my view is undeserved as he is entirely unsuited to playing through the middle on his own. Meanwhile we continue to pick Jordan Roberts come what may as he's he only (sort of) winger we've got. Mostly all he does is give the ball, and free kicks, away. List and Young (when we get a rare sighting) are wasted out wide. If the old Johnson's Paint Trophy had been renamed The Watching Johnson's Paint Drying Trophy we would have a great chance of winning it (on penalties, 0-0 AET).
