With last nights heavy frost and even colder forcast for tonight what are the odds on the game being off on Saturday?

Not sure why local ref did not do this yesterday as obvious little chance would be on.

Exactly looking at the picture they posted you would have thought they would.
Puts our club in the Crawley bracket now.
We are so tinpot.
Burton fans could have at least got a partial refund on any train tickets if it got called off yesterday.
Cambridge fans up in Blackpool have got a result they can stay in the Ardwick pub all day now.

A pitch inspection has to be agreed with the EFL. If they don't agree to an inspection the night before, then you can't have one.

Did not know that but not clear if we or Burton did not ask for one then or EFL said no.On the latter not sure why they would turn down

Re: rWeather forcast Game Off

Knowing our Club Secretary as I do, he would have spoken with both Burton and the EFL yesterday, informing them of the pitch condition, whether it was playable or not. It is up to the EFL if they allow a pitch inspection the day or night before a match. If they don't approve this, then the pitch inspection will be as early as possible on the day of the match. They always prefer the match referee to do the actual inspection where possible. The EFL would have been in touch with Burton as well.
A pitch inspection not only takes into the account of the pitch condition, but also the condition of the terraces and ground itself. In the case of a recent midweek match, the pitch was eventually deemed playable as it had drained very well after the deluge of rain, but an awful lot of work by groundsmen and staff had gone on, by sweeping rainwater down the manholes on the east terrace. If that rainwater on the terraces hadn't gone, then the game would have been off.
A lot of work goes into trying to get a game on, despite some supporters calling us tinpot! There are rules that we have to follow and financial losses for both clubs and supporters if the game is postponed.

I think the complaint is mainly in the communication to the fans from the social media output.
Updates could have been given on what was happening and what the likelihood was so fans can plan accordingly. To post Game Day and then an hour later match postponed is what is tinpot.
The club and groundsman I'm sure are all working extremely hard behind the scenes and following protocols.

Re: Update

Quite.
If there is ANY doubt about the match, or any inspection planned, we should be posting as such and updating supporters of the true situation, not keeping quiet on it and burying our heads in the sand whilst posting a "MATCHDAY IN SG2" message, which suggests it is definitely on and may lead to away fans (and home from further afield) potentially leaving shortly rather than delaying departure to await news it is definitely good to go.
But as I say, there are many things we seem to have gone backwards on nowadays off the pitch, and seem to not give a fuck about the fans or keeping them updated, which is what the club social media should first and foremost be there for, not just to try to get as many likes and interactions as possible, as if it is somebody's personal account used for trolling.

And now it has been postponed, matchday in SG2 indeed.
At least it was announced early. A day if playing with the new kitten and waiting for the NFL playoffs it is then!

Re: MATCH POSTPONED

Yep. And four L2.
But suspect some of those will go in the next hour or two also.
Edit: I also believe if Orient vs Derby is postponed in the FA Cup today, that will be played on Tuesday and so will mean our FLT game is also off.
Edit 2: Orient is indeed now off, meaning or game on Tuesday is indeed off. Will be played the following week instead.

I mean, there's no way there won't be a pitch inspection, right? So either the match officials aren't communicating or the club isn't.

Can't see how the outlook is better than Barnsley last year, so on that basis I am pessimistic. Shame as I reckon we'll batter Burton :-) Oh well, might head to the pub instead! [Edited to say somewhere with a log fire!]

I would imagine we have the covers down, so won't have any issues.
Edit: Although saying that, so do Northampton and their game has just been called off. As has Shrewsbury vs Huddersfield and Mansfield vs Wigan (FA Cup).

have to feel sorry for Burton got a nice journey to get here tomorrow, hope they are not already here as they can see what the conditions are like, the frost has not cleared today on pathways and grounds with temps dropping already.
but if we play tomorrow and draw 0-0 someone then can say well the conditions didn,t help.
p.s.
but we could have a few inspections to make it look good.
