Drop him when he misses ten sitters a game. If we have him a chance he might score.
Can't blame him when we can't even muster a shot on target in a game. That's a problem with the tactics.

Agreed. Last season we was creating chance after chance, this season we're playing lovely football around the back four.

One of the few times we pass the ball forward with intent, we score. Funny that!
Why is every goalkick to Roberts head?
Why is there zero moment from throw ins?
Simple things to fix, but we don't.
Lost count of the amount of times we've been in the final third and gone all the way back.

The goalkicks went to Roberts because he was winning them all. Better that than aiming at Reid and their 6ft 5 centre back.
Much better today albeit against a poor team

Roberts won almost every header from a goalkick, I'd have played it to him too, not down to him to win the second ball.
We never moved at hrow-ins under Westley, Sarll or Maamria either, its what we do, only Kemp consistently finds the space.
Kemp is easily our most potent threat, always finding space, always looking to drive forward with the ball. My MOTM.
Dan Phillips was solid today alongside Louis. Luther was his usual 7/10.
Freestone made one mistake and recovered it with a chase and foul, otherwise very solid.
Liked List today, best I've seen him for a while. Ditto Roberts.
Reid flattered to decieve yet again but got a goal so...
Great to see Dan Sweeney back. Feel sorry for Nathan, doesn't deserve to lose his place but probably will, albeit not till after the Northampton game.
Brizzle were woeful with 11 men, worse with 10.

Hitting Robbo with long clearances has been central to our play for three seasons, no? If you've got an asset, in this case Robbo's strength and willingness - best to exploit it.

But they send to just go up in the air when he wins them. It's not like a target man where he can hold it up or flick it on to someone.
While I'm moaning can someone explain why at 2-0 up against 10 men we still insist on leaving everyone back defending corners? Push one to two players up, give them something to think about and try and improve our goal difference.
Makes it so hard for Cooper in goal to come and claim anything.

Because we concede very few goals from corners, so why would we change how we defend them, making it as likely we concede from one as breakaway and score from one?
It works, don't fuck with it.

If you're winning 2-0 you want to preserve it, so you defend corners to the max.
Go 2-1 because you lefta couple up and it's all a bit nervy and lo, the moaners pop out of the woodwork.

Explanation: we're winning. Keep the shape, no need to force things. Chances will come... Plus also factoring in some kind of statistical analysis of the merits of keeping player(s) upfield at set pieces!

Louis my MoM today. Beside his drive and quality, I loved the way he drew the foul for the sending off. He knew who was making the tackle, and his reaction made sure that the ref got his card out. Proper 'Old Man' exploiting of the situation ;-)
I've not looked at any stats, but it seems clear that our performance level increases when Louis is in the team. What a signing he has been.

It made me mad last season when Evans had Louis sat on the bench behind Burns and TvC. Fucking insanity, neither of them offered anything in that role.

Yeah that was awful.
Felt like because Burns was at City, they felt he had to be shoehorned into the team somewhere, even out of position.

Louis has been the best midfielder at the club for two years. Given the level, and when fit, he's probably one of our best ever. I can only assume the curious selections you mention were due to niggles or illness. Or maybe Evans is more daft than I think?!

Agreed. Also Nathan Thompson appears to be our best CB in terms of footballing ability.
Both were under used by Evans, and NT only got a chance due to injuries.

You don't *have* to moan every game, you know, you could actually enjoy us winning and being comfortably the better side?
Edit: And being nearer to the playoffs than the dropzone, despite half our fans shitting their pants about us being relegated 🙄

Might not be at FT.
I've now got enough evidence that we are a mid table side, and that's fine, albeit a bit boring if it's the case every season.
When we had our sticky patch and hovering just above the relegation zone there was a worry if we had enough about us, because hadn't seen enough to suggest we would beat the poor sides, but since then we've beaten the shit teams (and a pleasant surprise v Stockport) and lost to the better teams.
Nothing to worry about now really.
Edit: teams like Rotherham and Peterborough should be looking to replace their manager before us.

I would add it shouldn't mean we can't complain when we feel we can do better.
Before the season people said happy with mid table, but as you go on and see what people are capable of or how (in one's opinion) something could be done better then it's possible that you begin to believe we are underachieving and someone else could do better etc.
But that's a risk (changing manager) and whilst we are doing OK not one I would take.

I agree, but I would prefer it to be presented in a different manner than just constant moaning (and it also rather loses its impact if it is during and after every game, regardless of what is happening - not a comment aimed exclusively at RockyB).
I try to look at the positives in each performance, not pick out everything that is not perfect, and heck, they are L1 players, they will make regular mistakes and we are a very small club in the level so need to shop in the bargain bucket, we can't bring in top players every transfer window and expect all signings to work out, or all players to not make mistakes.

If we could be a bit more consistent I'd agree that we are underachieving.
But neither the players and the coaching team are good enough to be consistently delivering at 80-90% capability.
We vary between 30% and 80% week in week out, hence we are mid-table and will likely end up here.
Which is fine.

Just think we can be so much better. The game plan today at times was so frustrating. I just don't understand the logic for going it.
We look so much better when we take a few risks in their half of the pitch and play through them.
We just look to be playing safe a lot of the time, which would explain both the goals for and against.

I agree with you. We are somewhat 'safe' in our approach. Our first thought is always to ensure we keep our defensive structure. We only make high-risk/low percentage passes when we know there's defensive cover. (*Not* the same as making a balls-up of a low risk pass or clearance, like the Wycombe game!) It's been the basis of the period of success under Evans/Revs. I get why you'd like this to change, but it would come at a cost.

It's an achievement, but it's not great to watch and hurting attendances.
It's a trade off isn't it, between risk and reward.

Lovely on Boxing Day for Wycombe but I’m sure the amount of times we have made a chance from playing it out from the back makes it worth it 😡- amazes me how many younger managers try and copy the elite .
