Richard Kone could be some player. I've never seen a player terrorise Pidge as much as he did.

Must be just me that thinks we got well beaten by a very good and very confident side. Such it up and move on, we've nabbed points playing far worse than that.
Two howlers meant 0-2 and they never looked like losing that lead.
You can't legislate for mistakes like those. Or a first choice keeper catching flu or whatever he's in bed with.
We weren't good, I'm not.pretending we were, but sometimes you just get done by a better team playing well, no matter how much effort you put in.
Dan had a poor.game, Reid and Roberts did little to nothing, Pidge dropped a clanger as did Taye. None of their starting 11 had a bad game, that's the difference.
I'd have liked to see us go 3 at the back with Smith on to see him and Butler higher up, but Revs doesn't change from a 4 often.

Kind of agree. Lost to a better side, albeit we made it easier for them.
Can we please stop playing Young on the left though?

Revs is falling into the age old trap of shoe horning players into the XI. Young has to play in the centre.

Revs appears to be too weak to drop Reid when he is clearly so out of form… in my view he should be playing Young up top with Kemp in behind and Robert’s and List out wide..

That's the obvious starting front line for me. Roberts needs to bloody start delivering as well though. In terms of effort Aboh deserves to start over him.

Compare Reid with Kone. Chalk and Cheese. Reid doesn’t deserve to be near the starting XI.
None of our strikers have the hunger or desire to be first choice.

When Reid first joined us I thought he'd struggle in the Conference.
I'm not sure if it's the medical issue he had (doesn't even look fit) or if he's that much of a confidence player and it's shot to pieces. Either way, he seems to have fallen back to that level.

Why though?
Do we think he's never actually been good enough, his natural level is not L1 and his good run was a freak of circumstance?
Is it down to a lack of service?
Poor coaching?
Tactics?
Attitude and effort? - is he 'believing the hype'?
It isn't just 'luck' - luck is arguably a factor in missing a couple.of chances, but not in a run of form that has been poor for as l9ng as he has been off it.

I absolutely think he is good enough. So does the manager of the Northern Ireland team. Remember that superb ball when he played in Kemp to score against Stockport? But he can't play through the middle on his own, and I don't think Young can either. The current system doesn't suit either of them and Revs appears blind to the fact. The overall lack of goals remains our biggest problem and if the defence screws up, as it did yesterday, we have no way back.
We have played a disproportionate number of games at home and we still have to play 6 of the top 7 away, so our comfortable mid-table position isn't as comfortable as it looks.

Why do we have Lewis Freestone?
Why did we pay money for him?
Add to that the cash we must've put into getting Jake Young and gawd knows what January is going to bring.

I think he's naturally a lower tier striker at this level who had his spell where everything was flying in cut short by a combination of loss of team form and injury.
I also think the team being more direct under Evans gave him more opportunities for straightforward or instinctive finishes.

Re: Match Thread losing 1-0

Moreso the players after that.
Edit: And not "turning on", no. But that was wholly unacceptable. However, we were five unbeaten prior to today, and had consecutive home wins, and we are above all bookies expectations for the season, despite having had some serious injuries to key players. Overall we are doing just fine. A response needed the next two games though, against sides we are competing with and should be finishing above.

Still 7 points off relegation so no change in my view of manager. If he keeps that buffer between us and the bottom that's fine. Don't care if we are 12th or 20th as long as we have a 3 game gap and not just 3 points off relegation (as we were before the last few games).

Re: Match Thread losing 1-0

Losing to a side who has been flying all season, and scoring for fun all season, is not an issue. They are better than us.
It was the manner of the performance, with every single player (I will probably excuse NT from that, especially with a couple of crucial saving tackles) looking like they were still stuffed full of turkey and christmas pudding. So slow, so lethargic, so poor.
As you know, I didn't even return for the second half. I normally don't have a HT drink at all so I don't miss anything, but today I spent the entire second half in the bar and watched it on my phone instead, such was the non-performance. I bloody knew it would be like that from the minute I woke up and saw the weather too. MEH.

The first goal was 100% down to Pidge. Terrible first touch gifting them the ball, then just blocking the player and a good striker doing what a good striker does, putting the ball away (doubt our strikers would have done the same). No fault of the keeper there.
A miskick for the second, but many keepers do that and get away with. Unlucky that it landed to what appears to be a quality striker with another quality finish.
Didn't really see the third as decided to play mario kart with my nieces instead of watch the second half. Did we get a shot on target? Usually hope for one of those a game.

And had a shot blocked (by our own player) early in the second half when we had a decent enough 7-10 minutes, but no, their GK never made a save IIRC.
