We are now on route to Blackpool via Stanley on the train. The rain has set in so we are bunkering down on this rattler.
Any other loyal boro fans making the trip today will see you all in the Ardwick later for karaoke and the pool tournament against Streatham’s finest.

We made it to Blackpool in the end, via a train from Preston.
It's looking pretty grotty out there this morning, but a fry up made everything better.
I don't fancy much time outside in the weather today and must check if there is a bar at the ground for away fans.

Came back from the Blackpool away day last season with a nice bout of norovirus.
Not going this weekend, but here I am again with a kid who has norovirus.
Blackpool has a lot to answer for. Even from afar.

Did you know hand sanitizer doesn't kill the Norovirus. Only soap and water will work for that. One of 0.01% of germs/viruses that alcohol cannot penetrate. I learnt this from a cruise group earlier in the year and now tell everyone at every opportunity. Washy washy.

Alcohol can't penetrative protein easily, I think quite a few viruses have an outer protein layer. (Not the Covids, they die)
Amazing what sticks in the mind.

I shall be taking me kite fashioned in the image of Steve Evans. The balloon may go up for him also this weekend.
Are fans heading to any particular drinking hole before the match? Any advice on good pubs for someone that has never set foot in Blackpool before?

Any advice.... Don't step foot in Blackpool.
Actually it does have some redeeming bits, when enjoyed in very small doses.

The Castle is "interesting" based on my experience the weekend of Fleetwood last season.
On one night there was two lasses sitting at the table beside us waving an enormous double-ended dildo about for no apparent reason (there were only about ten people in there, mostly old couples having a quiet drink), and the next night it was full of the same old couples in one corner, a bunch of Cardiff fans singing away in another, and then a bunch of absolutely sozzled gals who looked far too young to even be drinking and had practically no clothes on, dancing around a pole. After finishing our drinks we hastily departed.

Fingers crossed, can then spend more time in visiting the sights. But I suspect with Blackpool being a proper ground and the folk being northern they won't be put off by a stiff breeze.
Was planning a run down the coast on Sunday morning but won't if it's going to be that windy.

I assume the reference to visiting the sights is ironic. Same as the signs on entering Nidge that advertise the so called Tourist Attractions.

Blackpool Tower, Winter Gardens, Pleasure Beach, Coral Island, North Pier, Central Pier, South Pier. Stanley Park, Zoo, Illuminations. Probably got a Christmas market/fair at this time of year. Tram rides to Bispham or Cleveleys or Lytham St Annes. Loads to do.

I’m not sure if the model village is open over winter. If it is it’s well worth a visit.

They didn't bother opening The Big One for high winds last year when they were only at about 25mph anyway, the shits. Chertsey Town need to come up through the leagues so I can go Thorpe Park instead.
Also please don't disrespect Fairlands Valley Park this way

Same as the two times I was up there last season then.
Was in the Spoons at Crawley when it was called off the other week and it actually made for a better day out as the 90 minutes in between didn’t ruin the day.
Up on Friday for the Blackpool game so it if does get called off will not put a dent in the weekend as expecting us to lose anyway.
Safe journey to all of you loyal supporters travelling and going this weekend.
See you up there at some point.
