the youth teams at the club are proving the worth, well done all the squad in getting into the next round.
also great for the managers and the coaching staff at the club.
could do with a couple getting a run in the first team now with all the games we have.

My concern with him is if he is ever going to make it with us he should be playing above Potters Bar level (and I have watched them a couple of times recently and he didn't stand out even at that level, although may just have had off days).
Suspect there are numerous others a lot more likely to make it, hence them being involved in matchday squads and making First Team appearances.

Assume went there as we wanted him guaranteed footy but like Cochrane and H Smith loans it should have been to Conference teams. The players who have been on bench recently eg Doherty are not youth pros but still in Academy and assume we're named because of the injury situation .

We wouldn't just name them on the bench for the sake of it, only if we think they are good enough, or are trying to alert big clubs to buy them. Like when we have not named full benches previously.
But good to see plenty gaining high praise during the FAYC, as well as getting involved in the First Team. Be good to see them against men in the HSC.

Who is the most recent player to come through our youth set up and actually do well for us before leaving? Boyd?
Even he came from Charlton I think originally but was in our youth set up a while

Edit: wiki says 10 and Boroguide 14.
Reckon about 100+ apps or so, more than 2 seasons playing most games

Wikipedia is almost always unreliable for appearance data – unless the players are bigger in stature.

Kenners was captain of our U18s IIRC .
Did OK. Hampered by oversized genitalia though.

Yeah, that's probably it. 2 years in the youth set up. Boyd was only in our youth for a year before being part of the first team squad from 17

Neither of them were false dawns as it was blatantly obvious they were nowhere near good enough for anybody who actually watched them for ten minutes.
So odd the way we tried to push them (either ourselves or to convince others).

I thought McKee might have been up to it when I first saw him play. That was in non competitive games though, so hard to tell.
I feel at our current level, we'll always lose our most promising youngers before they get a chance to establish themselves.

Think Smith and Iontton were a case of trying to fool a bigger club into thinking we produced lots of good youth players after Wilmot.
We’re in a tough catchment area in terms of signing young players but this current crop seem to have half a chance. Would be great to see some homegrown players in the first team in years to come provided they’re actually good enough.
