Get him gone
Views: 1242
Hi all,
I’ve been quiet on this forum but today’s shocking performance has brought me back from the dead. Revell has to go I’ve seen better tactics from the Barclay schools pe teacher. If we want to be a competent team we need to start spending money on an actual manager and not the same one who almost got us relegated from league 2.
Thank you,
Mr Bentley

A bit of perspective is needed.
Pre Tuesday our home form was very good and we’d just beaten an unbeaten at home Mansfield.
The obvious big issue, which was commented on pre season and remains unchanged is our lack of goals. Doing the same thing again and again isn’t going to work so something needs to change on that front. I said after Tuesday that we need to get Reid on the ball in and around the box more. We have stacks of strikers but currently none of them are really offering anything. They all look easy to defend against.
This falls on the whole team, we don’t have a striker who can make something out of nothing and when we attack (particularly at home) as a unit we should be further up the pitch. The lacks of pace at the back makes this a risk though so it’s a bit of a catch 22

Not a silver bullet by any stretch, but Elliott List is our top scorer and offers something a bit different to the rest - so is he worth a start?

Two bad results on the bounce and we have to endure this bollocks again.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying things are rosy but let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water.
We do look toothless and that is a worry. We have the players at the club to be able to implement a number of different systems which is refreshing but I honestly couldn’t tell you what we’re trying to achieve.
Revs has shown signs that he has learnt from his previous spell and our fans who are still holding that against him need to let it go. I wonder if the uproar would be this loud if we were in our current position and Evans was still our manager.

I think the question we should be asking is can he improve players? If the answer is no then we need to make change. I would struggle to name one player that has actually improved since last season altho the likes of Pidge and Luther have been as consistent as ever. My biggest concern is the new signings. Obviously Apere hasn't had much of a chance due to injury but I think it's fair to say that Kemp, Freestone and Simpson have been utter guff so far. Phillips, of course, has been the exception and the jury is still out on Young, his superb free kick at Mansfield aside. So is that the fault of our scouting? Are we trying to fit square pegs into a round hole? Given Revell must have had a big input into the signings we must ask if his judgement has been misguided. Or can he just not coach at this level? I honestly don't think he has any idea of what his best Boro team is. But then again if we finish mid-table or lower mid-table then I think Revell could rightly feel satisfied. But it's so fucking grim to watch.

Lets just calm down a bit... two awful results on the bounce but lets be realistic.
Remember the following results:-
Shrewsbury win - old foe of years gone by.
Barnsley - ex prem
Charlton - ex prem
Wrexham - money bags
Mansfield - one of the teams I despise
Wigan - 0-0 draw - ex prem and FA cup winners
I wouldn't mind those results on my CV. Agreed, we have had some dismal losses but we can try to hold on to the positives
We go again COYB

And this is the main reason I didn't want Revs in charge, because it was abundantly clear how many people were never going to believe he could be any different to his first spell, so after every single defeat they were going to start bleating on about him being sacked and that he is no different and we are going to be relegated (yet say nothing after any wins or good showings, and totally ignore anything that disregards their point), and will continue to do so relentlessly until they get their wish. This is the way of the world now, people just say what suits them and pretend nothing else is true or has happened.
Unless we were top half, challenging playoffs all season, he was always going to be dead meat from certain sectors.

On the face of it we have effectively lost two in a row to unlucky deflections (both off Freestone's left foot).
But the reality is we simply carry no attacking threat, despite having two of the most prolific strikers in the lower leagues last season. Once behind, unlucky or not, we lose.
I didn't think we were bad today until we got into the final third, then as usual we hit it down the line in hope or cross on the diagonal. Decent defenders will soak that up all day. Early in the season Revs blamed the lack of goals on missed chances, but we haven't missed any in the past two games; there were none to miss.
I believe we have a really talented bunch of players here and the current system is not getting the best out of them.
The stats really do tell the story: Played 12 scored 9, including a penalty and a free kick. No goals from open play away from home. If Revs doesn't find a way to change this very very soon he will have dug his own grave, decent chap or no.

Yep, that is what I said in our group today is my biggest concern, that we have gone from creating plenty and wasting them, to creating nothing. At the same time we have started shipping goals in (albeit for understandable reason). This is not a good mix.
I have no relegation worries, but the lack of attacking threat and goals, and entertainment, means he is relying solely on results to keep people happy, so if they dry up we will soon be seeing falling crowds and unhappy people. And that is when the board will start noticing.

Alex Revell
I thought the game we was in control they didnt threaten, we controlled the first after and they made it scrappy
Hugill changed the game when he came on, they got the ball forward and he made the difference after that he got everything corner everything
You habe to built and cross and have movement to create chances, today no where near enough, you have to create more and go away and think how we improve that!
You cannot rely on cleansheets, all of a sudden you have to fight to get a goal back when it went 1-0 and then 2-0 isnt good enough!
I think we need to look at it and think as a centre forward u have to hold the ball and its your responsibility to run and compete, 1st contact 2nd balls we have to have bravery, at spells we did then we start to play.
We have to change that and get people on the pitch who can do it ! were hurting because of the result, we needed a reaction. Hugill came on and we let him do what hes good at, were missing big characters who would have been ideal for today but we cannot let that affect us!
Bolton Tuesday, pidge and lewy hope both back, we need leaders and men in the team and people willing to get in people willing to go above and beyond.

you can not rely on clean sheets must be the statement of the season , was that why the we put a keeper coming back from an injury or whatever to back up a back-four which was a makeshift defence due to bans and injuries.
but why change our goalie for this match.only has proved certain people at our club have not got a clue.
so does this now mean we dont need clean sheets, AS WE HAVE SO MANY GOALSCORERS EVEN THOUGH THEY DONT SCORE. our next two games are vital bolton and the f.a cup and to win we need goals. ( and clean sheets ) .

Re: Get him gone

I did think dropping Cooper was an odd one, particularly as he's not really put a foot wrong and has been a big part of our solid defence so far.
Like lots of other people - although clearly not everyone - I really want Revell to do well, but the lack of creativity is worrying. In his first spell you could blame that on the squad, but this time round we've got a good team so there aren't many excuses.
A problem we've had for several seasons now is a complete lack of any sort of width, meaning we're relying on playing the ball through defences which is tough at any level. If we had an option off the bench to change the game it would make a huge difference, but we've got a selection of target men, none of whom are very good.
Our position in the league means he should get more time, but as said above, if the lack of goals leads to crowds dropping then I imagine the board will act. Realistically, we're never going to finish in the top 10 when you look at the teams in the league this year, but surely Revs sees playing in the way we are isn't sustainable.
Like I said, I really hope it works out as he's a great guy, who actually cares about the club, and I'd love him to do well. Here's hoping we start scoring again

At the start of the season I think most of us were expecting a lower third finish in the League this year and were simply wishing and hoping for anything better.
This is now playing out and of course we're all getting frustrated by our lack of goals - but that was also the case in last season's run-in from January onwards when we were mostly pretty poor, with only our earlier season results and BGR in particular, giving us a mid table position.
The Guiseley game should be interesting :>)

I shouldn’t really comment as I have not been to broadhall way this season since they put EFL on the TV, I save £25 every week, but for what it’s worth Boro have not moved on this year, the long ball game is so boring and they don’t hav3 a plan B. I wish Revs all the best but I won’t be there to watch for the foreseeable future.
