Many of you lot, like me, are on Twitter. Which is run by an idiot.
It is a bit of a hellsite now. Racism, bots, abuse, scam adverts and an algorithm that pretty much guarantees your post will only be seen if you pay for a blue tick.
BlueSky works very much like Twitter. Most Twitter users that have migrated use the same @ name so you can find 'friends' relatively easily.
Too many cat pictures but other than that.
No adverts, no blue tick twats.
Be good to build a bit of a grown up Stevenage FC group on there.

What I've found is if you mute words like Gaza, Israel, Keir, Trump, Tories, Labour, Russia, NHS, Tate, Boris, trans, woke, hunt etc you don't see any annoying posts and all you're left with a feed full of Stevenage, football, cricket, boxing, F1, athletics, football shirts, animals memes, dad jokes and posts from people who know (except their tweets involving the muted words).
The occasional retweet gets through so you're aware of what the latest thing everyone has gotten upset about is, but generally a nice place to enjoy bitesize content relating to your interests.
Don't even notice the ads, as they're probably well targeted to me so find them of interest too.
I set up on threads but that's awful, just see posts from people you don't follow asking the same generic question aimed at getting hundreds of replies. ("What ruins a pizza" "what 3 words do men want to hear"...).
