Wigan Away

Is the Wigan game on? I heard some rumours that it may be called off due to internationals in their squad. Can any confirm if this is true/ who they would be?

I wonder what countries would want League 1 players? Probably little islands or ones like bogrovia?

Would it be better or worse for everyone if League One operated on the assumption that international week games are off, and then schedule in the ones which can be played at short notice? Roughly similar timeframes to Cup replays but they're trying to kill those off too.

That sounds better for all concerned.
Either that or schedule the EFL Trophy group matches during international breaks irrespective of the number of callups per team.

Wouldn't make aby difference I wouldn't say.
And I remember posting on here and X (formerly known as Twiter π) on fixture release day that this game would be off, so if anybody booked non-refundable travel or accommodation then more fool them.

It's a bit unlucky if your club suddenly gets a raft of first-time call-ups.

Should be like the Rugby and forced to play anyway. Would even things up a bit if the big teams can't have their internationals

The Premiership now has an break during the six nations. Only the Premiership cup is played which is basically a reserves competition.

Waiting on England U20/U21 and Ireland U21 squad announcements, which are due today.
All four of their matches last season were postponed, and L1 is already down to just six matches.
Eli King has been called up by Wales U21, so wouldn't be available for us if it is played.
Our home and away matches with Brum, and home match with Bolton, later in the season will all be called off due to their call-ups.
Edit: Sam Tickle, Luke Chambers, Thelo Aasgaard, Babjide Adeeko all regularly get called up. Plus their new loan signing Dale Taylor.

The good news is assume Brim and Bolton at our place will , given their fanbase, will still sell out their end for rearranged games.

top story on their website is they've just signed NI full international Dale Taylor (although he's only been called up to the U21s this time https://www.newsletter.co.uk/sport/football/northern-ireland/michael-oneill-names-northern-ireland-squad-for-uefa-nations-league-fixtures-against-luxembourg-and-bulgaria-4760710)
edit: Aasgard has been called up to the Norway U21s too

And Calvin Ramsey Scotland U21s:

So that's 3 for them, will be off
