Could and maybe should have won that but no real cutting-edge. Appere has to start over Simpson in the next game.
Burton were very poor given the money they're splashing around.

Seen a lot of people saying need a striker or need Reid back but unless the rest of the team play different that's not going to change much.
Agree the previous games we wasted lots of chances, List in particular, that maybe a Reid may have finished.
But today, Simpson didn't even get a look in, wasn't that he missed loads and was bad just couldn't get the ball and nothing to run onto or get on the end of.
We looked a bit better when List and Appéré came on and finished the game stronger than Burton I felt.

Agree with rhat Wev.
We cannot cross our fingers and rely on Reid being prolific again. He doesn't have many prolific seasons.
I hope he does but let's not hold him.up as the messiah.

I sort of think that was a decent away performance. I'll certainly take the point. The only clear cut chance Burton had was that wild miss just before half time. We didn't have much of a threat going forward and didn't create anything. I don't particularly see what Simpson brings to be starting every game so far.

I’m not sure if I’d class it as decent but if we play front foot football and pick up points at home then these types of ‘efficient’ performances away from home will be viewed differently. Home performances/results will be key.

2 goals, wishful thinking!?
Not sure what's more embarrassing, those 3 of our fans at Huddersfield trying to 'fight' their whole section for the whole of the second half, or this first half performance.
No gameplan or patterns of play, just aimless hoof. This feels a lot like last time he was in charge.
This is a team that have shipped goals for fun and we haven't even tested them.

I'd like to see 442, less balls to their keeper and try to keep the ball and play it down the wings, then cross the ball rather than play it back across the edge of the box.
It's what we used to do under Revell and Sampson. Never managed to get the ball into the oppositions box (whilst still in possession of it).
That's enough edits now.

Kane Smith's biggest attribute is his crossing, not sure he's put one in today. That tells you everything you need to know about how the game has gone. Too many players don't look comfortable in the position they are being asked to play.
This has massive shades of MK1 Revell.
I bet Sky were delighted they picked this one! One of the most boring games of football I have seen in along time!

Re: Changes needed

Aye, no intensity, no identity.
Half the team want to play one way, and half a different way. No one really knows what they're doing.
I'm in the minority of not really seeing what White actually gives us, not what he's capable of or how good he is, but what difference does he make to the team the way we play. Seems to have little impact on games.
Granted we are perhaps missing a few key players that would make us better. Taye, Wildin, Reid.
But there's nothing I've seen so far to excite me about the season and today in particular was terrible to watch. Just a group of players giving about 90% and not yet a team with an identity.

I totally get it when people say back him, and want him to do well / prove he has progressed tactically etc. But it worries me to hear him go on about identity when he doesn’t seem to have one. Obviously he needs time to develop that, but we have the previous sample to go by. He will get this season whatever. People have rightly pointed out 15th position wouldn’t be terrible. Fair enough. But it feels very dull compared with the Evans years. I just think he’ll scrape 15th by being very very conservative and a bit confused. Then what does Wallace do next season? Keep him and hopefully stay up again. I am in Paris, hence the slightly existential tone of this post

Many of them shots were from outside the box straight to the keeper and a sign of us running out of ideas. Only so many times you can get to the final 3rd and pass it back across the pitch before kicking the ball out. Or just kicking it out straight from our own half.
Seemed like we thought we aren't going to create anything else so might as well take a shot from 20 yards and hope.

I think we were the better side and saw much more of the ball but some of the final balls where way off the mark. Most of chances seem to come from distance and off the back of a run and shot.
We where not bad more frustrating, ref didn’t let the game flow but there where a fair few petty fouls from both sides which dosnt help.

Re: Changes needed

We were better than them. 3.points were there for us today.
But it was pretty dire fare. Fair to say I am underwhelmed after that.
90% of our balls out from he back were long and usually overhit.
Too many diagonal crosses overhit.
No real attempt to utilise our playmaker(s) White and Kemp.
Kemp did look good in flashes when he got the ball though.
Simpson looked Conference level, big and bustling but ineffective.
And we all know what Brakespeare brings, a busy whistle and a fussy approach. So don't fall into the trap and give away 18 fouls.

With Sweeney booked would be surprised if he comes on later, also gives us the long throw option, which looks more likely a way to score than anything else we have shown so far.
