Attendance

3357.
Main stand looked like a friendly in the highlights.
Considerable step down from last seasons average.
As an expat fan, I haven't followed much of this new Sky TV package, but I suspect this will be contributing to the drop? Hopefully the Sky payout is worth more than missing ~1000-1500 through the gates.

It's also worth factoring in that the trains were absolutely f***ed yesterday. Lots of people who don't drive coming in from surrounding towns would have had to bail out

3962 with 417 away when we played Shrewsbury at home as our first home game on 12th August last season.
3357 with 437 away playing them first on 10th August this season.
But cannot put it down to Sky yet as multiple other contributing factors (last year being on the back of promotion, our first time back in L1 etc.).
It will definitely have an impact though, particularly for midweek games as they are all on TV.

Actually as far as aware EFL and Sky have never said what clubs are getting paid, I understand it the same for each team although will.be variances based on what league you are in

Re: Attendance

Is that all?
We've accepted multiple televised games and screwed KO times for a 25% increase.
Most of which will be gobbled up by increased player wage demands anyway.
Gates will fall and atmosphere will suffer.
Advertising revenue will go up I guess.
Why are club chairmen all so short sighted in voting these things through?

Re: Attendance
Views: 1094
Championship has increased 46%, so will all be worth it once we get promoted.
Edit: A minimum of 16 of our televised matches are not permitted to have the KO time changed, so most matches will be unaffected by that. Although we have already had five, of course.

It's not helpful money though.
If every club in the league gets it, there is zero advantage.
Especially when it goes straight out the door to agents and players.
The more successful you get in terms of which league you're in, the more money you have to lose to compete. Fucking stupid.
And it's all down to the owners who vote for the changes/rules.
No other business operates like that.

Re: Attendance

Whilst I partly agree, I also actually disagree.
I think we will be less negatively impacted than (almost) every other club in the league.
We have a small fanbase, many of whom are pretty dedicated, so we are likely to see less of a reduction in attendances than (most) others and so will lose less income as a result than they do. Also, with us having probably the 23rd smallest attendance this season, maybe even 24th, the new deal will represent a far greater percentage of income for us in relatiom to gate receipts, compared to the other clubs.

First half wasn't great but the second balf we could've had 3+
Shrewsbury are still terrible.

Thats a really important win.
Having a team you expect to beat first up can really set a bad tone if you dont get a positive result.
Buzzing for Listy great finish.

Quite a middle of the road performance. Shrewsbury didn’t offer much Bloxham chance aside (well done to the keeper for getting something on it), we had a few half chances and thankfully didn’t rue missing the penalty. List and Kemp looked lively. Simpson was a handful too. Hopefully will have settled a few nerves to kick off with a win and a clean sheet.
Huddersfield will be tricky next weekend. I’m glad we’re going there with three points to our name.

Would've been joint top if Kemp didn't miss the penalty, and instead we are 11th. Room for improvement.

It was absolutely essential to win that, as I said on an earlier post. We did enough and that's all that matters for now, but will need to raise our game v better teams.
