Need some help remembering a fixture

Bit of background here. I've been a Stevenage fan since the closing stages of the 04/05 campaign and was born in 1991.
Now I'm currently in the process of writing a piece (I don't know what I'll do with it) talking about my football life story, with memories, experiences, and how my attitudes and views of the game have changed.
The first Stevenage game I have a clear memory of, and can be certain of the timing, was the game against Leigh at the end of the 04/05 season.
What I need help with is that I vaguely remember being taken to a Boro game, years earlier, at home to Posh, where we lost 2-0.
It was a mid week game and cold. That's all I can remember.
The earliest it could be would be probably is 1996.
Any help on any competitive fixtures or preseasons it could be?
I can see on our head-to-head there was a cup game in the 97/98 season but I don't trust how reliable my memory was at that age.
Any suggestions and also any memories of the fixture would be appreciated. Sorry I've been a bit vague.

Pre-season wise, we played them at home in 1995, 2000 and 2003, with the latter two both being midweek. Hard to imagine them being particularly cold though!
1995 we lost 4-1, 2000 we won 1-0 and 2003 we did lose 2-0.

So that suggests either I've mixed up my memories about the cold and it was the 2003 game, or it was the reserve game in February 1998.

Must have been a pre season friendly definitely was not a FAC game and we were non league.Someone on Supporters Assoc may remember better than me , but sadly lots of us old timers no longer around.

Makes me wonder. I know there is the archive or whatever its called but has anyone gone around collecting stories from the old timers back there at the start of it all?
Would be a crying shame to lose their stories and memories.

The University of Hertfordshire did a great job a decade or so ago conducting oral history interviews with a bunch of people connected to the club. Still available online last time I checked if you search for Stevenage Boro Memories Day.

Yeah, that was a shame to see have disappeared.
But these websites don't happen without a fair wedge of effort. So, can totally appreciate if Paul(?) had other priorities.
