England 2004 v 2024
Views: 1299
Just saw Harry Redknapp picking between the two sets of players and basically choosing all 2004 ones bar a couple, which goes to show how well Southgate has done to get the best out of this group. You try:
Pickford or David James
Trippier or Ashley Cole
Guehi or Sol Campbell
Stones or John Terry
Walker or Gary Neville
Bellingham or Lampard
Rice or Gerrard
Mainoo or Scholes
Saka or Beckham
Foden or Rooney
Kane or Owen

2024 shades it for me...
Pickford or David James - Pickford
Trippier or Ashley Cole - Cole
Guehi or Sol Campbell - Campbell
Stones or John Terry - Stones
Walker or Gary Neville - Walker
Bellingham or Lampard - Bellingham
Rice or Gerrard - Gerrard
Mainoo or Scholes - Scholes
Saka or Beckham - Saka
Foden or Rooney - Rooney
Kane or Owen - Kane

Pickford
Cole
Campbell
Terry
Walker
Lampard
Gerrard
Scholes
Saka
Rooney
Kane
So 7 from 2004 and 4 from 2024. It's tricky though because for example in reality Declan Rice is a far better player for England than Gerrard or Lampard were despite having more to their game.

Yeah I think you're meant to do it based on individuals at their peak who is the better player, not how well they do in an England shirt/team.

Also whilst I don't think Neville gets there for the last ditch tackle, he could have put in a proper cross on one of the numerous occasions Walker didn't.
