I thought we had them in our group, but that was Slovenia. Google says they are different countries.

Slovakia was who we drew our last group game 0-0 with in Euro 2016 to finish 2nd and set up that wonderful 2nd round game with Iceland in Nice.
Slovenia is who we beat 1-0 with a Jermaine Defoe goal in Port Elizabeth in WC 2010, to also finish 2nd in the group and get a rogering by Germany (lampard goal that never was), if you want to remember the difference!
I was at both, thankfully won't be going this time but hopefully we get through and get a better following result this time!

Did you know that in 2021 68.8% of the population were Christians, with 23.8% declaring no religion.
How about that for an interesting Thursday afternoon fact.

The stuff he is serving up with the players at his disposable is nothing short of a disgrace. Any half decent manager would have won a major trophy with this squad by now.
Any then to start spouting shit about missing KALVIN PHILLIPS is a sacking offence alone. Geezer has lost the plot and I'm pretty sure the respect of the players will not be far behind.

Don’t we say that during every tournament?

Re: SOUTHGATE OUT n/t

Previous tournaments:
2018 WC: Semi-finals (probably an overachievement)
2020(1) Euros: Runners-up. Big missed opportunity but only a second ever major tournament final.
2022 WC: Quarter-finals, losing to the holders who went on to lose the final on penalties.
The performances haven't been there yet but he's hardly underachieved results wise in major tournaments.
Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia and won the World Cup, the group stage is not necessarily reflective of knockout stage performance.

Imagine finishing top of a league and not losing a game and still loads of people wanting you sacked for what might happen in the future.
A 62% win rate in his entire time as manager too!

Watching Southgates England team is like watching a Sampson Stevenage team, solid, utterly boring and devoid of any ideas how we're going to progress past this style of play.
Winning a group is all he's good at at, ultimately he's still won fuck all.

England are the Tottenham Hotspur of international football.
And Southgate is to England what Mourinho/Conte were to Spurs.
Except those two are trophy winners. So that's probably a bad example...

He's the greatest manager we've had in the last 30 years. Taking us to Semis and Finals was a huge achievement.
I've been a big Southgate fan, but I have limits, and this tournament might be it. It's just been so frustrating to watch.
I feel like Foden/Bellingham is the new Lampard/Gerrard issue. If we want a changed system, and to get Palmer and Gordon on the pitch, we're probably going to have to leave one out.

Foden seems to be capable of running the show. Bellingham is... good sometimes, disappears for ages, mis places a pass, fouls someone. Is La Liga just a piece of piss or something? Surrounded by galacticos...

With some of the easiest runs and some of the best players. I'd argue it was because of him we didn't win at least one of those.

Many managers before him failed to even qualify, or to get out of very poor groups, regardless of whether we now have better players, they also had players to achieve more than that.
We may have good players, but other countries have better overall squads, and only one side can win each tournament. You very much seem to have the classic England view of thinking we are better than we are and have some right to win everything, whereas I would say we have been performing to, or slightly better than, par for what we have had available, ie. having around the third or fourth best squad and finishing in that position consistently.
I would love it if the next guy who comes in fails to even qualify and all of those hounding Southgate for every decision and for his "failure" get their comeuppance.
Edit: Before the tournament everybody was questioning England's defence. They have conceded one goal in three games, which was an unstoppable banger. Sure they haven't faced the best quality teams yet, and it may have come at the expense of the attacking threat, but it topped the group, which is the sole aim of the opening three games, so can very much be argued to have worked a treat.

I think they are developing a siege mentality of sorts. They are obviously fed up with wankers like Shearer et al slagging them off, so they've decided to qualify whilst doing as little as possible. Dickhead wor Al demands that they run around and show PASHUN, so they do the opposite. This obviously dicks off the average England fan, but at least they conserve energy. Top the group - top trolling. It is difficult to break down teams who are only interested in one thing.

There were times last night where the defence looked as if it was teetering on shambolic. Definitely remember a first half chance for Slovenia where one defender played a loose pass under zero pressure to the other and it went astray.
