I said after the weekend that I remained confident we would absolutely stay up even if he remained all season, and that our performance was enough for me to believe he should get given this week, to build on it.

The performance was not as good last night, although Northampton sitting back didn't help with that (we looked more dangerous and were opening them up more against 11 than 10), but we got the result we needed. So job done there.

What must now happen is that we kick on and don't revert to going to Crawley and playing for the 0-0. Results are the most important, then performances. You feel last night probably earned him some more leeway, probably until Christmas. So if he doesn't pick up more wins before then, those who never wanted him get a lovely Christmas present, if he does, people should be happy that their team is winning matches.
