A CB should *never* rely on pace to defend a cross, if you are running back at pace you are facing your own goal and have already lost the defensive advantage.

It's about coaching and tactics, making sure you either impact the opposition players attacking the ball, or attack the ball yourself.

Something Pidge generally does superbly, because he's usually read the danger and is starting from rhe right position.

Luther used to struggle few seasons back because he didn't anticipate, Sweeney sometimes struggles because he switched off and didn't track the threat.

That's not to say we don't need pace at the back.
