I can see that with his positions going forwards, but he did struggle win anything and didn’t really look comfortable on the ball.

Rev’s was giving him hell during the middle 40 minutes of game. I don’t think he was too happy with his press - pressing the inside of players to force the ball out. He was also continually telling him to run, the poor guy although that was probably Rev’s deliberately putting him through the gauntlet a bit.

Agree with the Freestone comments, however he does allow us to play a back 3 and let LJW/KS to push up. Definitely no.2 left back behind Butler.

Will be interesting with a bit more quality in Apere and kemp whether we need to rely on defence capabilities of Phillips or whether that’ll be a tactical option to go more defensive if we want to.

I think we’ve got a clear system we ‘want’ to play so that’s just a matter of time before it clicks. My worry is that if we want to press so much, our fitness won’t be at those levels come the start of the season.
