Their fans have always had a significant arsehole element, as far back as the late 70s.
I've been in the away end at a preseason friendly a good few years back and left halfway through the second half because they were so angry at everything.
They had several fans thrown out for drunk behaviour, chucking things at the opposition goalie, during the bloody warm-up.
I have a couple of mates who worked football in rhe West Midlands. They'd always prefer Villa, Walsall or Coventry over Birmingham.
