Revell/Evans/Wesley et al

My penny-worth on Revell

I was reminded of Barnet last night and their relentless dedication to Martin Allen, a has -been if there ever was one. I say this as evidence, if it’s needed, that very, few football managers return to their previous clubs to see success.
We are no no exception, and the appointment of Alex Revell is testimony to this fact but from where I am standing there are seemingly many supporters that thought and expected more when he was appointed. If one had the time and reviewed every manager who came back to their old club second time round, I am sure that there are none that did no better than they did previously to be blunt most if not could not repeat the business. I see that even the ‘great' Steve Evans ‘ is struggling with Rotherham.

So why the angst? Sure, the bloke obviously wants to succeed that much is true but that is not nearly good enough. Once again the fault lies with the Directors, there has to come a time when such men have to dig deep into in even deeper pockets and go for it. Either take time to search for those aspiringly good Non-League Managers who would jump at the chance of a League 1 job or alternatively build the club up to attract a very seasoned league manager who might just see SBFC as a means to revive a flagging, career. As has been said many times “he who dares wins”- when will we dare?

Ciao
